The caps lock key has been a worthless key since it started appearing on computer keyboards. I’ve used (and learned to type on) an IBM Selectric where the key almost had a purpose. The IBM PC Keyboard as well as the VIC-20 / C64 both had them, and they continue to appear on keyboards where they are not used, except by accident.
Why on earth haven’t I thought of disabling or changing their function before today, I have no idea. But it is easy:
